Thompson Lewis lawyers have handled high-profile non-profit matters for our clients in Southwest Florida.  Some specific examples of non-profit matters our lawyers have completed or are serving, include the following:


Representative Non-Profit Matters

  • Represented the Naples/Marco Philharmonic, Inc. (later changed to the Philharmonic Center for the Arts, Inc., and now known as “Artis - Naples, Inc.”) in the acquisition and development of the Phil’s concert hall and other improvements.  Worked with Myra J. Daniels and then Collier County Attorney Ken Cuyler to pioneer the use of off-site evening and weekend parking easements with the neighboring commercial properties to provide required parking for the concert hall.

  • Represented the Naples Botanical Garden, Inc. in the land assembly and acquisitions for the properties in the Bayshore area that were combined to establish the Naples Botanical Garden, and well as handling the land use legal work for the approvals from Collier County needed for its development.  Mr. Thompson was a “Charter Member” of the Garden, and also served as general counsel to the Board of Directors for many years.

  • Currently represent Shy Wolf Sanctuary, Education And Experience Center, Inc., it its site acquisition and to assist with land use approvals in Collier County for what will be a world-class sanctuary and rehabilitation facility for unreleasable wild and captive-bred exotic animals, including wolves and wolfdogs, as well as an education center for the public.

  • Represented many other non-profit organizations, including churches, such as land use work for Centerpoint Community Church, Sisters of Queen of Peace Monastery, Jehovah’s Witnesses, governance analysis and counselling for the Lutheran Church in Pennsylvania, and state-wide land use representation for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
